Three SEO tips to make a difference

Sometimes it’s just the absolute smallest of things that can make a LARGE difference with your SEO ranking results.

Here are 3 tiny things that will make a HUGE difference if you practice them all the time.

1.    If you are going fishing make sure there are fish.
2.    Page  title is 100%.
3.    Making keywords bold makes you stand out.

If you are going fishing make sure there are fish and not too many people fishing.

If we were going fishing as a professional, we would do one thing before we throw our nets into the water – we would KNOW that there are fish there to be caught! A professional fisher person does not throw their nets into the water BEFORE doing a radar scan to check for fish. If you are smart at SEO you will do the same! You will also not go fishing where everyone else is fishing … this is common sense.

When it comes to a more abstract world like SEO sometimes we forget common sense. So let’s remember!

In the SEO world, making sure there are fish is making sure that there is traffic for a keyword we are selecting to rank for. Use tools like Google Traffic Estimator (just Google it) if you are short on funds, and if you have a little bit of money, go get yourself a WordTracker account (they also have a free tool as well which is good). These (and many other traffic tools) will tell you that there are ‘fish’ for the keywords that you want to rank for.

The next part of the tip is not to fish were everyone else is fishing! This makes logical sense but often forget that it’s best to fish were there is little or no competition! So look for keywords that not may people have content written for but a lot of people are looking for.

Page title is everything.

In the SEO universe the page title is the ‘secret weapon’ of the master ranker! Here is one thing to remember – make sure that the page title is as close as possible to being 100% the keyword you want to rank for as possible. The page title is like the title of a book. If you wanted to learn about the sex life of a worm then a book title of “Sex life of a worm” will grab your attention and you will know you have the book you want. On the other hand a title of “Worms and interesting facts” will not grab you in the same way. Make your title tags (where ever you can) 100% the keyword/key phrase you want to rank for.

Being bold makes you stand out.

This is a very good onsite SEO optimisation tip if you want to optimise a page/blog entry for a unique and specific keyword – make sure you bold the keyword in the text at least 2 or 3 times. Don’t over do it of course! Less is not usually better in the world of  SEO.
