How to rank top in Google, Yahoo! and MSN/Bing
This is the big question and the answer is always the same – content – content and more content!
Imagine having a playground without any swings, slides or roundabouts. Imagine then standing on the corner shouting to the kids passing by, “hey come and play on this cool playground back here”. Imagine then their disappointment when they go and find that there is nothing there.
Guess what would happen if there was something there though. Yes you guessed right — the kids would come back and play again and probably bring their friends with them next time.
We have a few clients who have 100% flash web sites or their home page is 100% flash. These sites never rank at all for anything unless a lot of back-linking is done. Back-linking is very expensive to do because it is so time consuming.
So the best way to get Google and the other search engines to come and ‘play’ on your website regularly is to add content regularly.
Believe it or not but by the time I would have finished this article it will be indexed on Google. Right now it is 8:57 and it is not on Google as you can see below.
I have just saved the article so that our website will now get busy automatically submitting it to Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. By the time I have finished with this SEO Article we will see the results.
I was a little bit curious though and could not wait too long so I peeked on Google to see if its been indexed. It is now 9:00am – three minutes later. And yes it is there – fully indexed and drawing potential traffic.

So now I have rambled on for a little while I can actually get to the tip that I was wanting to share today!
So what I wanted to share today was about the value of content and how it can immediately affect your ranking.
We have been working at ranking on the first page of Google for a few months now for the keyword SEO. SEO is a hot keyword on the internet as you can imagine, and is one of the hardest keywords to secure a ranking position for.
We got to the second page but could not get higher. We then applied some special back-linking focus to boost our results and a few weeks later we landed at number 3 on the first page of Google.com.sg.
With the competition being stiff we did not stay long at number three and dropped to number 7 then number 8 and hit number 9.
Whenever you get a high ranking even if it is only for a short time it is a great sign. One of our clients was ranking number 2 (and 3) for a keyword where the global competition was 200 million pages. We finally broke the mould after 9 months of focus and got them number 1 (and number 2). We lost the position twice but right now they are number 1 again.
Late last week I wanted to recover our number 3 position for the keyword SEO and I wanted it fast. The only way you can get fast ranking is with onsite page changes – real content changes.
So I went back to page ranking 101 and did what is easiest to do – add more content!
Google loves more content on a page. Giving words to Google is like giving ice-cream to a child. If the rankings are close and you want to out-rank someone, a simple way is to just add more content. Of course the content needs to be keyword rich to achieve a better result and if you focus on adding headings (H1) and sub-headings (H2) which include the keyword you will add more blast to the page.
So I added the small section below to our home page and two days later we were back!
No 3 — No1 we are on the way!
So remember to use content on your website if you want to rank high and stay there…
